Of the wealth of natural attractions to be found on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion, it’s the lush flora that most inspires artist Phil Quetin. « The tropical vegetation is one of the treasures of this island. Each plant species has a different shape and color, so it is quite a challenge to draw and paint, » says the Reunion-based Frenchman. Pictured here is a luxuriant corner of Entre-Deux, a charming rural village situated between two rivers high in the hills above the south-coast town of Saint-Pierre, where Phil lives. « With its quaint cases créoles (traditional houses), exuberant gardens, and quiet streets, Entre-Deux makes an ideal subject—provided you have enough shades of green in your palette. »
